Chrome El Grande
Well Brett finally got me and after seeing the El Grande and Churchill's being put out by Simomatra and Amos well i thought I'd give them a try in the inventory. also got some Silver Churchill's but I have something special planned for them, just have to see a guy who knows a guy first. so without any further ado, here she is, a Chrome Churchill dressed up with a piece of Deer Antler from Brett as well. Comments and critique welcome.

NPGJ fit and finish are spot on as usual.
regarding the kit. i like it with the lid on, but it looks weird IMO with the lid off ( or connected to the back end ).
i do think that the antler goes well with the chromeS T I R L O

Hey Sam,
After seeing the Churchill's that you have done, I got a couple of them and the El Grande. They take the same size bushes as the Churchill's and the tube sizes are the same. The surprising thing is how light the pen is even made out of the antler. i haven't worried about the b mandrel just using the no mandrel method and they work a treat. Have you tried the antler from Brett yet? a lady at work said she has 3 sets at home they found in the paddock so i said if she don't want them i can use them. That will keep me going for a while then if she can give them to me.
Stirlo the cap posted does look a bit funny but I'd rather right with the cap posted than without. It gives the pen more balance when it is posted plus it sit nicely on the hand as well. It posts a similar way to the Churchill, in the design if the cap can be posted down to the gold trim ring and it squares it off nicely. I just didn't push it right on in the photo and it seems the fit is good enough to hold it into place with minimal pressure.
Give one a go mate I'm sure you will love it. I feel though this and the Churchill and the larger pens an ordinary pen blank will not do, they need the extraordinary. In say that you don't need exotics, but angle and crosscut blanks and there are a lot of Aussie timbers that have interesting colour and grain patterns to pull it off for these pens. But exotic is good too.
