Cigar
Black Titanium Ballpoint with Black Ash Burl. Both from Billian. Sanded down to 12,000 MM, applied 6 coats Minwax Poly and 2 protective coats of Brazilian Carnauba.
I did this one a while back befroe I started using Brasso to polish final finish.
As always comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks for looking.

Another fine timber. Nicely finished.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Very nice Les, you certainly seem to be able to get your hands on some very nice bits of timber and the pen features apeal to my tastes as well.
I managed to pick up some Minwax WOP at Bunnings last weekend and am looking forward to trying out your system as soon as the MM sheets get here.

I do not use Minwax Wipe-On Poly. I use Minwax Polyurethane that I wipe on the blanks. The Minwax Wipe-On Poly is too thin and if you try to apply and leave on the blank it will run on you. Also it will take many, many coats to build up the finish in order to polish without going through the finish.
Don't get confused between these two different Minwax products, there is a difference when it comes to applying.
Good luck and looking forward to seeing you finished pen.

Damn there's $30.00 down the tubes, the WOP was the only Minwax product they had and I thought it was the right stuff

It can still work, it just takes many more coats (and much more time)
I've been told:
The Wipe On Poly is the same as the regular Polyurethane, only with lots of thinner
added to it to make it easier to apply with a rag. And it wastes lots of money (especially since you can thin the regular stuff and get the same thing)
