    Default Cigarwood Harvest

    Hi Folks,

Here is a Roman Harvest rollerball I created from "Cigarwood". Anybody know what actual tree this would have come from??

Coated in 20 coats of thin CA, then micro-mesh.

    Simon.

I don't know which tree it comes from, but I think when you find out we should all plant one. Looks great.

    Answer

A Cigar tree, or Catalpa bignonioides, is a plant that features large, heart-shaped leaves and bell-shaped, white or purple flowers. The tree is native to southern United States and is widely grown in households as an ornamental. The wood from the tree is very durable and is mostly preferred in comparison to cedar.

Ok so "cigar wood" was just the name given to this set of blanks by the guy who cut them up and sold them to me. It's a piece of aged (and partly rotted) Curly Gum root.
