    Default Long Click Pen

We've had 26" of snow in the last week and I took a break from shoveling and tried to get some lathe time.

I had another failed attempt at segmenting a pen blank and decided to take a break from that and turn something that I had an even attempt at finishing.

This pen is wearing a semi-local invasive shrub that is primarily in the Western side of Washington and Oregon but can be found in the Panhandle of Idaho called "Scotch Broom".

Didn't have time to dip the pen in my Waterborne Polyurethane so this is four coats of Med. CA and buffed with Brasso.

The sap wood is yellow and the reflection is like deep pools of sunlight.

    Very nicely done Ron!
You did a great job on the CA finish to get lots of depth.
That Cytisus scoparius sure has some great color and grain.
Excellent fit and good choice of plating to complement the Cytisus scoparius.

    Hey Ron,

Well done , I sure like the look of that, and only 4 coats of CA, love the finish.

Well John ... you should try it out at least once
The 'wife' has her own snow shovel and she's bundled up like an Eskimo. I shovel snow in my tennis shoes and shorts.

Thanks ... I rarely ever use more than 4 coats of Med CA and if it's warm enough two coats of Thick CA seems to do the job for me.
