    Arrow Closed End addiction

Seems I've been turning and turning, but can't get past this addiction....anyway, tried another shape. Still not set for 'one kind of shape'...

This is the Twilight Glitter that the wife has poured for me, and I haven't had a chance to turn any.....so here it is on a Upgraded Gold Baron kit. Reverse painted the blakn black, and gave the tubes and coat too.

Wet sanded through 1500grit and then touched up with a bit of PlastixPolish to bring up the shine.

    Comments/critique is always welcome!
    Thanks for looking!

Nice job Scott. I've yet to try a closed end pen. I kinda think they look un-finished for some reason. Prolly just me though haha.

Again another nice job. The downfall of closed end pens is that they are nonpostable if you are into that. I do have to try out a few ideas myself. Thanks for showing.

Beautifully turned Scott. May I suggest a better shine might be achieved with the full range of MM to 12000 andthen a bit of very high quality car polish.

The shine is there...it's just not in the light-tent.

If we ever get to see the sun(been cloudy or raining for the last week), I'll drag one outside and snap a sunshine photo for ya'll!

With the cost of the MicroMesh, and the amount of time it holds up compared to the sandpaper sheets I just have laying around. Don't get me wrong, if I ever need to do some more black-only acrylic, I'll need the MM pads...but I'm too cheap at this point to throw good cha-ching down the rabbithole.

Hi Scott. I have done about 110 pens with just one set of Micro Mash pads, BUT I always wet sand all pens. Maybe that is why I get a great run out of them. I've just recently opened a new packet.

    Pariss,

Definitely a wet sander with those pads...but I learned the hard way, that you shouldn't forget the pads are in the bucket of water. Left them in there for two, almost three days and the sanding part of the pad was coming off the backing.

    Thanks for the kind words!

If you use a squirt bottle ( your wife usually throws them out a used stain remover bottle ) you will find it is not as messy . Like when you dunk them in water and drip water all over your lathe .
insanity is a state of mind if you don't mind it does not matter.
