Cocobolo Majestic
So I'm in my shed cutting up some pen blanks from some boards I had laying around and one of the off-cuts of cocobolo called to me. Four hours later, this emerged. The rest of the timbers you see in the shots are red palm, bocote, cocobolo, snakewood, and tulipwood. This Majestic kit is very nicely made. It is a heavy pen, yet nicely balanced, with top notch plating. I think it was around $50. Finish is CA.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Dang Cisco, you're becoming quite the pro with the CA.
Looks like you've got lottsa pens to make too, looking @ all of those blanks. I'm assuming they are all Cocobolo?

I see the work in front of you by the number of blanks just there, really appreciate your Cocobolo pen it jumps out and says here I am what about me and I agree. In fact all the rosewoods are attractive in Pens. Peter

Cisco,
Stunning pen. What a treat to find such a piece of cocobolo. I have a similar stack of blanks sitting on my desk and it has been driving me crazy not to tear into it, but alas, other things are taking priority.

Aw shucks. Thanks, guys. The credit goes to the members of this terrific forum who made me elevate my efforts by showing me such glowing examples of this art.
I learned the CA finish here. I, later, learned how to apply it correctly (very important) here. I learned about MicroMesh here. I learned the trick about automotive polishes, you guessed it, here. If it weren't for the fine men and women on this forum, I wouldn't be eating bologna sandwiches for lunch trying to save for more pen kits and exotic timbers and there wouldn't be a pile of wood shavings on my side of the bed.
I thank each and every one of you. When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

I just picked up some more lengths of cocobolo (Love the stuff!) after holding out for
too long. It isn't easy to find it with good color and good figuring.. and if they DO have it,
it seems to be 1/2 inch.. $29/bd.ft. is just too much for wood you can't use.
But they had a special on 5/4 short lengths today .. short being 2' long .... and while
lots of it is the plain tan color with no grain to speak of, the grain that is there is
very nice.. if I crosscut the right way, yield should be just fine. I just have to learn to
see a 3 foot length of wood .. but see it in 5 inch increments..
oo .. and some lovely leopardwood, too! DJ .. get ready ....
