Coffee Tree and Black Cherry
Here are the three pens I turned tonight. From left to right, Coffee Tree, Black Cherry (x-cut), and Black Cherry (with grain), all with the CA finish.

G'day Rick,
All very nice pens, but by gee the cross cut wins by the length of the straight.

Hello Rick, really great looking pens, Now, Coffee Tree, have you enough to do one cross grain? it looks striking as is, just wonder how it would look on the X. The Xcut cut cherry stands out. Amos

This was some of the weirdest wood I have worked with. The black cherry, cross cut, was a pain to work with. It turned okay, but sanding was awful. With grain, the cherry was a breeze all the way around, but isn't near as attractive.
The coffee tree was another story. I cut up a whole plank, half with grain, half cross cut. The cross cut was a bust as the grain is not tight, and will break with just a little pressure. When turing the regular cut, I found it will shear rather easily when rounding out the blank. So, if you take your time, it turns very easy, sands like a dream, and finishes well.

G'day Rick, like the others the x-cut Cherry is bolder than the others and is outstanding. The straight grained Cherry still make a nice statement that is quiet and refined. The Coffee Tree reminds me of Amazique, it is a very striking pen. fit up and finish excellent.
