My Latest Commission - Banksia Modified Churchill
Here is my latest commission, an Australian Coastal Banksia (Banksia integrifolia) pod on a modified Black Titanium modified Churchill with each seed hole filled individually with flouro glitter and thin CA, with a thick CA finish (to help magnify the sparkle). Just to make it a bit more special, I also included banksia finials on the main body and the cap. I also removed the majority of the black rings at the base of the cap, which means the silver ring on the main body is visible when the cap is on, bit I thought Ok as it gives 3 silver rings and 2 black rings when closed. I also used a modified black ring on the finial to break up the bling . I deliberately made the pen slightly longer as I consider the kit normally a bit short.

Below is a shot of the pen with a normal Churchill kit I made years ago with some nice Buckeye Burl (slightly oversized relative to bushes) so you can see the differences in kit.

Hope you like it.

The first time ~4 hours. Each one needed extra work though involving at least another 2 hours. Since the banksias are not cast under pressure with resin etc, as you turn sometimes you get just pure CA (glitter floats or settles to the sides), so you then have to dig it out and refill again.
When making the finials, I also made them originally a different shape, and when I rejigged them they didn't survive. Finding replacement Qld banksias to match the victorian ones I used was also an issue, the holes seem different, problems associated with travelling .Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Not my cup of tea but can appreciate the craftsmanship and the attention to detail in that one.
Very nice work.

The pen modifications you have made would be beautiful in ebony with gold rings. I am not really linto the blingy resin but I am sure your customer loves it.
