    Default Conker Berry

Carissa Lanceolata comes from arid tough country, grows tough and not very high around 2 metres. Every piece I have seen has been eaten out by white ants up the middle, classified rare. Still a favourite of mine, its getting hard to find especially in drought country which describes most of Australia right now. Stock feed on it, has tubular white flowers that turn to black fruits also edible.

It is dark orange with light narrow darker growth rings, sapwood is white to pale brown.
Pics show the pen and the last pic shows a cut section that can not be used as it is cracked and hollowed out behind.

First pieces I have found large enough to cut across the grain.

Gotta love the contest in getting and turning it.

    Regards Peter

Wow! That is some pen Peter. You will have everyone searching for the Conkerberry now.

The effects of your first rate craftsmanship on that pen is out standing, well balanced, great finish and fit up. I like the colour that are in that particular blank as well.

Do you think its possible to save the piece with the void in it, could it be filled with something under pressure.

    Thumbs up

Love the timber and you have executed the job superbly as per usual.
None of my Conker is that size unfortunately.

Not sure about the design. IMHO the plainer shapes show off he more complex grains to better advantage.

    Great looking pen peter.

Must of been a huge piece for you to be able to get a x-cut section off it.

    Default Conkerberry

    Hi guys and ladies,

David that was from the same piece I sent you half of that time and since I only use Slimlines mostly I was able to get two separate pieces from it.The background is that one I mentioned to you.

Mapelman thankyou for your offer however at 20 Dollars per kilo will go another direction.

Sam I have a collection of bits for the day I cast worthless blanks.

I have miles of interesting new and old timbers to turn. Have fun Peter.

Peter, beautiful wood, lovely pen, some fancy turning there, and the first thing that captures me is the fancy turning, further looking endears me to the wood. Amos
