Coolabah Dayacom Pen
Special request to do a Coolabah burl Dayacom pen in Rhodium.
Sanded to 400 grit, 20 thin coats of CA, further sanding to 12,000 grit MM, brasso and automotive wax.
Beautiful to turn. I love turning the hard desert timbers.
Thanks for looking and thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Lovely looking pen David, with all those ca coats it looks from the picture to have a dull spot ? Makes a good showcase for the timbers , i have still to try one in a fountain pen style hehe. Cheers ~ John

Hi MIK
I use aerosol accelerator with my CA finish.
When the days are above 35 degrees in the workshop, I don't use accelerator at all. I just wait 5 - 8 seconds between coats and that seems to work just fine.
John - you had me worried there. Went to check the pen and no dull spots. Checked the original photo, the spot in the middle is where there is no reflection because I was using 2 light sources. The lamps didn't meet so there is no reflection there.

Stunning, again!
Makes me depressed seeing this quality out there... ahh well, about a gazillion more hours at the lathe and I'll get there...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him
