    Default Cooper Wattle

When I posted the Koa slimline it was mentioned by Amos about a bit of meat on my pen, and as said by him it is of personal taste we it comes to crafting pens. I do love the straight slimline, but this is one especially for Amos. Before everyone starts looking for a new type of wattle it is your common Black Wattle with special meaning. I call it this because of a young fellow that gave it to me. He was looking at going to the olympics in 2008, he was running 11.5 second 100mt, 4 hrs before he died in his sister's arms in a car crash last year, he was only 16. Also for Tyson this one. Comments and critiques welcome.

    Darren,
It really saddens me greatly to hear about that young fellow. However, it also reinforces my determination to keep on talking to my kids about the dangers of driving and of other drivers.
Is that two different pens or just a slight change in angle? Either way, it/they are beautiful. Very intriguing design. I really like how the end of the clip matches up to that one bevel. Nicely done.

    Cheers,

    Rick

Rick the photos are of the same pen it is half sapwood and half truewood. The clip matching with the bevel was good luck instead of good management measure about 8mm if I remember rightly and it should sit there just nice. Yeah his nickname was Superman and his sister and I watch the sky for a satlelite and we say it is him doing a fast lap. It was a freak accident, less than normal speed, wet road car lost control on a oil slick surface, left the road and hit the only tree there was. He always made people laugh and I have made pens from this timber for his friends. This one I will give to his sister.

Beautiful gesture, Darren. (Beau Geste). And a beautiful pen, too. All the best to her.
