Copper on copper
Those of use lucky enough to attend the Casting and Stabilization Demo, also scored samples of some of gawdelpus' own blanks. Last week I picked some some Dayacom Sierras in copper from GPW and here's the finished product.
The photo is the best of a bad bunch but you get the idea. It's the first pen I've risked doing since my shoulder injury late May so I'm pretty happy. And it must be more than okay because my 17yo daughter has claimed it.
The blank cut easily and it was almost therapeautic watching the little white worm trail off the mandrel into the DC inlet over my lathe.
Thanks again John.

Great effort Dabbler hope mine come out as good - I haven't done any pens since the demo as I've been rearranging the shed to fit in my new casting room.
Cheers Rumnut

Great looking pen, another thanks to all that ran the casting demo.
For those looking for the copper or stainless steel braid another place to find it is if you know an electrician that does work on ships. They use cable that has a protective sheathe of braided material and is thrown out when stripping back the ends for terminating. I do not have access now but in the past have thrown out heaps also sold 100 metres of this type of cable to a forum member before shifting. He lives on the Gold Coast

Outstanding...very simple, clean lines with a great color combo accent.
I really like it, very eye catching with out needing any bling.
Well done indeed."That's why I love my computer,,,,,,,, my friends live in it."

Mr D for Dabbler,
Searched in vain for the law officer, consider your braided offering to equal any I have seen to date. So bright and fresh I imagine cutting square must be a bear at best tricky at the least.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum

Thanks for the generous comments. I think John deserves a fair bit of credit too.
It was fun to get back into things and great that it ended so well.
