Default Couple of Burl Fountain Pens

I had a Lady ask me to make her a Silver Fountain Pen in burl the other day, she wanted a natural type finish, as she didnt like the plasticy look of the CA finish. ( wish more customers were like that )

Here are two that I knocked up for her to look at when she comes to town tomorrow.

A chrome Sedona in Cooktown Ironwood Burl, and a Rodium Jr Victor in Red Mallee Burl.
Both are finished with Penetrol and Hut wax.
I hope she likes one, or better still loves both and cant decide, so she takes both

    Hey Ironwood,

Both pens are beautiful, If the lady doesn't like either or both, I'm sure some one will,
I agree with the natural finish, the fellow who got me into turning said that 'Íf you handed a turned object to a blind person, they should be able to feel that it is wood'

    Thumbs up

    Beauties!!!

Sedonas don't really get enough "airplay" - they are a nice looking unit.

Well she came in this morning, the chrome Sedona won her over.
She also took a chrome Baron rollerball, in curly Black Wattle ( with oil and Hut wax finish), and a Xcut Macadamia Elegant Beauty ( CA finish ), thats been sitting there for a while.

Then 10 minutes after she left, another lady walked in and bought a Pen & Pencil set that I only finished yesterday . It's been a good day .

I agree, I like the centre band on these Sedonas, I was a bit turned off them at the start, I didnt go much on the zigzag centreband on the others I have tried. These ones look great, this one got a lot of favorable comments, before it was sold.

I like the feel of the wood also, any pen that I make for myself gets this type of finish.

I can appreciate the attraction of the glossy CA finish and it's apparent durability, but to me, and obviously a few others, its just not quite the same.
