A couple of new pens...
Just a couple of recently made pens that I took photos of using my newly home made photo tent.
Cigar Pen with Huon Pine & Pristina Fountain Pen with Tasmanian Myrtle Burl
C&C welcome, especially on photo's as this is my first real go at some more serious photos.

Both very nice pens, although I do really like the look of the Tas Burl.
Cheers

Very nice Graeme, especially the myrtle burl.

Thanks everyone,
Here's a photo of my "luxurious" photo tent.
tent.jpg
Basically, in there somewhere is a cardboard box with windows cut out then lined with white poster cardboard on the inside. One old bed sheet around it and Voila! Home made tent that does the job nicely. Once I adjusted my White Balance on my camera to match the globes in the two lamps it was just a matter of positioning the lamps and getting some decent backdrop material.
The only problem with this setup is the box takes up a bit of room, but hey that's what a spare room is for right?
Thanks for taking a look.
Cheers,
Graeme

Well done Graeme in my opinion you have done a great job on the huon cigar BUT an even better job on the pristina in the burl it looks excellent As for the light tent look to me like it's working great to me as both photo's are crackers another well done for them.
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the compliments artme and Ian, it really is appreciated.
I'm playing with the photography at the moment to see what works best. I started with using white paper but thought it might look better with an interesting background, but at the same time one that does not distract too much from the pen. K.I.S.S. I guess
I think the velvet might catch the light a little bit too much but luckily I like experimenting with photos.
Cheers,
Graeme

You've done a great job with the pens and the photos. The Pristina is my favourite too.

Graeme, I'm not a pen turner, so apart from saying they look great, I'll comment more on the pics.
The green background with the Huon is just spot on. The second pic seems to be higher in contrast, and that's ok - it's probably just a function of the pen & b/g colour. Perhaps just a smidge more exposure?? EDIT: Nah, the exposure is bang on (couldn't see it while replying...)
I can't see the attachment of your tent (link doesn't work), but you could try using tracing paper or lunch wrap (you can layer it up to the softness of light required), and it may well be worth trying sunlight as the light source.
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback Brett. I've fixed up the photo of the tent in my post above, I'm not sure what was going on when I tried to insert it originally but it was behaving differently from normal.
As you can see it definitely needs some work to make it look more professional but it does the job at the moment.
Cheers,
Graeme
