Crushed Abalone Shell in black PR
An Elegant Beauty with Crushed Abalone Shells and Black PR.\
Have been experimenting for a while with some different castings, this is the only one that has been even close to successful as of yet.

Mike, a mighty fine looking pen, well done with the home casting, I have an idea that the pen would look much better in presence, keep it up, Amos

Are you casting solid and drilling or applying to tubes and then casting ? . I have done "paua" shell blanks successfully by gluing direct to tubes ,very little waste and no drilling after casting . Whichever way you did it came out very nicely indeed . Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Looks great Mike
I've done a few shells, but cast in and stuck to the tubes as John suggested. With the plain cast I found the 40grit chisel works the best, how did you go?Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I cast in a silicone mold similar to the moldsavers, just mixed a heap of shell (hit with a hammer) in black PR and cast under pressure overnight.
Neil, Yes the 40 grit was the best option on this one!!!
I will do a few more in some different colours next week and see how they turn out. Heading to the West coast so hope to grab a few more shells and maybe the odd piece of Huon. (With any luck that is)
