    Default Custom Wedding Set

    Hey All

Here is my latest customer order a wedding set ;-) Jr Gents casted in Carbon Black and Pearl White & Reflux Violet and Pearl White home casted wet sanded to 1200g and finished with NP. While I was turning these with out bushes I discovered that the finish size of the body of the Jr is not one size all the way even thoe in the instructions it's says 12.3 mm when I turned down the purple one and assemble I noticed the the end of the body was not a perfect fit . It is not that noticeable but I am a little as I am trying to refine my techniques. So I check the fittings on the bottom part of the Jr and it was not 12.3mm it is in fact 11.81mm so I did the next one and turned it to suit the fittings instead and perfection ;-) anyway I check the rest of my Jr's and they are akk the same 12.3mm at the top and 11.81mm at the bottom

    All comments welcome

    Thanks
    Ian

    Nce work Ian

Yes this issue has come up before and I am surprised that David hasn't corrected the Jr Gent instructions by now.

When working without bushes it is always a good idea to work to the measured fittings rather than written instructions.

From memory there are a couple of other kits that have slight variations on their sizes in the instructions as well, but off hand I can't remember which ones.

Timberbits is not alone in this, nearly all the kit suppliers suffer the same inaccuracies. Whenever I need to make No Mandrel Bushes for a kit I haven't made before (and don't have in stock) I always ask the customer to send me a kit as I refuse to make these bushes to the published sizes.

Anyway, 0.5mm difference is very obvious to the feel!

Excellent work on that set Ian, nice job on the casts. I never trust the instructions when it comes to sizes anymore and always use callipers to get the final size.

Hey mate thanks for the info on the issue but I am not having a go at Timberbits at all mate just frustrated thats all. I have never had any issues with Timberbits and buy 90% of my gear from there and will continue to do so ;-)
