That I Inherited after his passing this past July.

Beautiful piece of equipment les. I am sure it will be treasured and used to make some of your terrific pens. Must hold many happy memories for you. Sorry to hear of your fathers passing.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John

    Fantastic...
Thats what every craftsman wants...years after he is gone, some one takes a piece of his work and goes..."Wow, pretty neat"...and then puts the piece to work like the builder intended.
What a cool legacy, even better because of the personal connection.
    Lucky devil you....

    Thumbs up Les

That drill press would not be out of place in an operating theatre or clean room in a space laboratory, thoroughly in keeping with the impeccable room and all of your work. He your Dad set such a high standard for you to follow and to your credit and his memory you did. I have no doubt in my mind he was indeed very proud of you as well as I am of your contyributions to us. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. That build was one year before I joined the work force.
    in 1951.

    Regards Peter.

Looks really good and similar to the Waldown I have following my father's passing. I'm sure it will run true and last ready to pass on to the next generation.

No wonder you do excellent work Les, your father has passed on his excellent craftsmanship to you.

Sorry to hear of his passing but you will have an excellent reminder of his life. I also have some tools from my father.

I was thinking the head and the table support look like original "1940 ish" Rockwell castings...the table and the base look like he custom machined them himself, note the abundance of hold down and mounting holes, guy had his mind set on a lot of different used for this machine.

This drill press is a one of a kind as he built it himself using various
parts such as ahead light housing and a turn table from an old movie
projection system along with a lot of automobile parts.

Bugger !looks like it would be right at home in a showroom today You are lucky to have had such wisdom and guidance from the word go , and while you have such tools and memories the guidance will continue I am sure. As a retired fitter and turner I can really appreciate what went into such things ,if I can ever get off this "Pen-Mill" I have some projects I want to get on with on my lathe hehe. Cheers and Congratulations
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

    Thumbs up

That is a beautiful machine and superbly maintained.

I think we can all see the example that was set by your father for your own fine craftsmanship.
