Dai Sensei pen blank
I had to show this, not to show off my pen making abilities which leave a lot to be desired but to show this beautiful acrylic blank by Neil (Dai Sensei) which he gave me a couple of years ago at bbq at Prime mover's (Phil) who is a member of the forum.
I don't know what the pen is, I believe it is a variation of a slimline but not sure as I found it among some old kits I had floating around.
Back to the blank, the picture doesn't do the blank 1% justice as it is absolutely amazing and the gloss on the blank is something else but as always doesn't show up well in a pic specially one taken by me, but I think you will get the gist of the whole thing, the colours are unbelievable and and the only regret is that I had promised this pen to a friend of mine so it has to go unfortunately.
the blank was difficult to work and a bit brittle but with sharp tools and slow but sure it came up incredibly well. I love it. Thanks Neil, I still have a couple more left that you gave me and I am not going to promise them to anyone. They will have my name on them. sorry I haven't done the blanks justice with my photography Neil but I think everyone will get the idea.

Good one Mr. Mayor!!
Neil gave me a blank like that in black. Just have to find it when the hand is better and
do something with it.

John thats a great way to say thanks Neil.
I like the tailored shape it suits the kit and Neil's colourful blank enhances it.
Well done all round.
Good to see you back at the lathe also John.

Looks like one of my "left overs" blanks - ie bits and pieces from other casts thrown in a mold and recast. Personally I don't like them, but the women in my office used to go made over them, I actually had a bidding war on once .
Take car turning and sanding on your next one, the nib end looks over-doneNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

You are very observant Neil, the nib end is indeed overdone, reason was no bushes so I used cones and went a little too far but overall I was pleased with the result.. I still have a couple of the black ones you gave me and will take more care and keep the verniers close by.
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John
