Don't know if I can disassemble the components but I will see what the brains trust at the club can come up with.
You are right Amos - after all the hard work!! This was a mallee root blank that had given me some early grief with
the finish. I think the humidity played up with the CA and I was left with a dull finish> I persevered today and came
up with a really good shiny finish. Was rather pleased with myself!! Now I can't think of anything reasonable to say!!!

Isn't that how we all came to own a set or more of transfer punches?

Not all is lost Artme ,they come apart readily, unscrew the nib and as said use transfer punches , knock the joiner out first ,then the nib end with a better fitting punch, on the other end knock out the clip end first then the centreband , worse if you mix up the clip end bush and the nib end bush hehe, one end too thin ,the other too thick Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

What gets me is, HOW do you hold the barrel without scratching it? Amos

Those lightweight rubber coated gloves mechanics use make for a good grip and take some of the sting out of the hammer blows if you miss the end of the punch. Yes that happens. They are cheap enough to keep a pair just for disassembly so you don't get any grease or dirt on the pen from the last job you wore them for. Do the disassembly over something soft, like a blanket, incase the pen comes apart quicker than you expect. Keeps the parts where you can see them and prevents concrete rash of the plating.

You will all be delighted to know that a mate and I disassembled the pen this morning at the club!!!!
No broken or scratched digits, just a tiny repair to be made to the nib end blank!!!
