deer antler
So a good mate of mine in the U.S. had had a bad run of luck, and i'd like to change a day for him by sending him a pen. He was out in his van helping deliver papers for his missus and a buck jumped in front of his van, they're ok.
However after much teasing from me..in the vein of..
"You know that using a rifle is more humane u cruel $%^^&&(()"..and
"a van is a one shot deal.." and
" casserole van >his surname here<, has a metallic taste with a hint of antifreeze, though watch the ashfalt chips.."
It occurred to me i might be able to send him a bullet pen with deer antler, (i dont think its too soon, lol).
So my questions would be, where does one get it (the deer antler), what turning challenges does it present as opposed to wood and acrylic? and would it be a problem to send given its written description on the postage box? (here's an elegant faux BULLET pen with featured FAUNA, etc.)
I have thought of contacting Les in red deer, and either buying a pen of his and having it sent from there (closer) or doing a swap with him for some antler, depending on what i can do locally and send. i dunno.
cheers.
Neal.

I doubt that you would be able to send the bullet pen through the mail even if you didn't put bullet in the description if the scan it you cout be in all sorts of buying on from Les may be a good idea.

Allrighty then, thanks fellers for the replies, good stuff to know, sending you a pm Mr. Rusty, cheers mate. I know Les uses huts and oooo to polish his antlers up, is it the kind of stuff that does ok under CA finish or is it more like acrylics in that it finishes well on its own? I'm thinking its kind of between the two... though essentially it is hair and fibrous, to some degree its probably more like wood?
