    Default Desert Ironwood

Another blank from Jim in Alabama, a piece of Golden Desert Ironwood. Cut so sweetly and a dream to finish. Comments and critique welcome.

Not particularly Toni, but I do use them. Gold TI is nice, the gold fittings have their place and compliment your Red Mallee, Red Gum, Ebonies and African Blackwood, but it seems that there are a lot of people that don't take time to match kits to timber. I like my Chrome, Platinum/Rhodium, Stirling Silver, Black Ti and the Copper kits. I would pair a bright or satin Copper kit to Red Mallee before a gold one if I had a choice.

Im with you on that Darren.... I also like satin nickle

Nice job with Desert Iron wood too.

That piece looks very different from the desert ironwood blank I got from Cutterwoodjoe in the pen blank swap.

BD there are a few different type of Desert Ironwood in America from different States so may have a variation in colour.

Forgot about the Satin Nickle kit, made a deer antler satin nickle Sierra for a mate, it was a nice plating as well.

Another beautiful pen, Darren, the darker woods seem to show more of their colour and grain in daylight photos,as i found out with the Tiger Myrtle. Amos, Trouble is it is mainly night time when we get a chance to do our hobby.

    G'day Darren,
Wonderful pen. Ya gotta love the desert ironwood. None of the stuff I have is that light in color. Nicely done, and I like the kit selection. The only reason I use so many of the gold kits is that was all I had. I was going through the shop this weekend and found a stash of others that I had forgotten about.....BONUS!!!!!!!

    Cheers,

    Rick
