desert timber
a couple pens I finished today. Its western myall a desert timber I have growing on my block and the cast off branches are usually the right size
I might give bullock bush a go some time in the future as I have that as well.
I reckon it sets the americana off nicely ....now to try it with a baron or 2

Nice timber, and pens, but don't you have to have a license for cutting desert timbers?

no license needed it is on my land.......
I have a couple big old dead trees but leave them for the parrots to nest in I just use the fallen branches. Also have a heap of sugarwood I had to cut down nice colour but not as dense as it grows a bit faster than myall.

Fxst that contrast between the sap and true wood on the Myall looks great as does the design and fit and finish on your pens. I have a bit of sugarwood but haven't turned it yet, will have to try it

the trick with myall and mulga (same colour sap and centre to a point) is to drill the hole at an slight angle so the 2 tone effect comes into play.
if drilled dead centre it wont always give the colour range.
Toni in some states if collecting wood in the wild so to speak you need a license but not for all timbers Check out via you local national parks people to save the big $$$ fines

Love the colour on the third pen, I think a plain white background would make that second pen look even better, Amos

Great pens. I love the 2 tone effect.
The images are a bit blurry. I think you need to take the photos from a bit further away. As is common with many pics I think they are taken closer than the nearest focus of the camera. Just a suggestion.Terry B
