    Default A NEW DIMENSION

A couple of castings I did some time ago that I though I would try on Sierra stylus pen kits. The first 2 are burl with blue and red resin. The photo, being only 2 dimensional, doesn't show it up properly but when looking at the pen it has a 3 dimensional appearance with the timber appearing as higher than the blue and the blue as higher than the red. This one is a keeper.

The second pen is a swirl resin which I did when I was experimenting with mixing resins.

Nice work on both of those Greg.

Those are nice pens. The 2nd is a great casting job. Great color separation. But I think I like the 1st one the best.

PR from FGI at Wacol (Nuplex, I think the new company name is) on both blanks.

Thanks Greg. Thats what I am using for my casting, I haven't done any worthless wood blanks yet.

I have heard that PR can shrink away from the wood as it dries, did yours give you any trouble ?

I didn't have any problems at all Brad. PR will shrink a little as it dries and more so under pressure. I didn't put them in the pressure pot and just let them dry naturally. When dry if I saw what appeared to be a little broken bubble I just put a bit of CA in.

    Greg,

These were the photos I took of your pen today during your visit. I do like the look you achieved

    Cheers

Perfect. Thanks Tony. Far better pics than I take. I have sent you an email to your PP&P site regarding the other matter we discussed.
