I had a go at this today - used your idea, but use the aluminium slide off a floppy disc and was using a plastic slide off the same, but the glue would hold onto the plastic (probably should have 'roughed it up a bit'), so used purple heart instead. Currently it is hanging in the window waiting for the purple heart to 'do it's thing', but as it is night time I guess the photo will have to wait until tomorrow. It got the approval of HWMBO!!
Does the plastic need to be pliable? I wondered whether brittle plastic might shatter too much? I was thinking of using the plastics off floppy discs as they come in many and varied colours (and they are no good for use any more as floppy drives are a thing of the past now) - what else as I going to do with them?

Laurie Ann,
Good looking pen! I love the creativity. I wonder if an old cd would work?

Toni,
My wife would tell you that it is a "man thing", but I think it is a "people with great creativity" thing lol. I have been toying with the idea of cutting a bunch of squares from cds and glueing them up as a blank. Don't really know how it would turn out (pardon the pun). Plus, that plastic is so brittle, I can't imagine how it would turn.

why not glue a stack of cd's together either enough to make a whole pen or enough to make a 1/2" section. Think of all the AOL cd's.
