El Grande
Has been too long. I am just starting to attack the El Grande pens i got from Addictive Pens. The first one I will show you is a Kingwood on a Chrome kit. Normally I would use a Gold/Ti Gold, even Black TI, but this particular piece of Kingwood that i got from a local supplier is a bit anemic. The Kingwood I am use to is a lot darker purple than this piece. Any way here it is. Critque and comments welcome.

Thanks DJ I am slowly getting better at this pen crafting business, will have to keep an eye out for some darker Kingwood as well.

Very nice Darren you have done a good job with the El Grande, I agree with you about the Kingwood it is very light the Kingwood I have is very purple in colour however I do like that piece it is different.

I like what you have done with it. But, I have never seen kingwood before that looked like that.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Very nice Darren as usual. The timber is a little light but you have done it and the kit proud.

Thanks guys for the comments. Yeah I have to agree, it looked good on the outside before it was turned, but the colour was certainly a let down after it was turned. The Kingwood I got from you, Al is rich in colour and will go with Ti Gold or Blk Ti beautifully. Brett the only saving grace is like you said, it is different and hopefully that will be its selling point, because I have more of it from the same supplier.

Nice looking grain on that pen bdar, good matchup too.
Am not familiar with Kingwood, so can't comment on how "typical" it is, but is certainly a very turned out pen

Still a good looking pen, someone who doesn't know will think it is a great wood and colour. Amos

Darren, Even though you are a bit dissapointed in the colour overall it is still a nice pen. But I have a question for you Did it not take on your normal finish? It does not seem as shiny? Perhaps photo. Don't bash me for asking. LOL but overall I think it will be very pleasing ot someone.
bye Toni
on a after thought. Jim Carrol has some nice dark kingswood

Hey Toni
Toni your right mate, the pen has the same amount of CA, 20+ lol . The photo wasn't the most professional didn't use normal lights that I do and it was just a point and shoot picture without a tripod. Sorry Peter, just excited i have done some pens at last. got the pen beside me and I did check it just in case I did botch the finish. Just poor photography Toni.
