I made 2 E.B's and both were to large in diameter on the ink side (not the clip side) I hope you understand.
So my questions are,
Is this a common problem with E.B
And has any one pulled an E.B apart if so any tips
If you need photos you will need to wait until tomorrow.Cheers Rum Pig

Sounds like you don't have the right bushings for the EB kit ? measured the one I have here and the nib end where you need to match dia is 0.473 ins.the cap end where it joins the tube is also 0.473 you can dismantle the cap-clip end by simply getting the right size punch square ended and gently tapping the pressed section out of your turned body .Hope that helps ! cheers ~ John

I did not think to measure the bushes but I have made E.B before with them and they have worked out fine. I will measure the kits just to check and double check the bushes there might be a build up of glue on them.
You say to tap the cap end out do you remove the twist mechanism first or do you think that will be ok?Cheers Rum Pig

Hmmm ! you must have different EBs than mine ,the nib end has the activater screwed into it containing the ink refill. the cap end simply slides over it when you assemble and is a tight fit to turn the activator ,very much like the sierra style pens . ??

Sounds like you're using a Daycom EB kit.
Hope you're using the Daycom bushings, not the Berea ones? (they're different sizes).
Probably safer to take the twist mechanism out before you tap out the end cap.Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

I will check the sizes compared to the pen kits but as I said I have made them successfully before (could have been a fluke)
Here are some pics of my work pen

Righto. That should clear up any mondayitis.
I've made a few myself and havent had a problem.
For disassembly, I'd take out the twist mechanism and take the nib (ink) end out first, then the clip assembly.
How much bigger was the barrel to what it should have been?Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

This the ones I had and measured ,looks the same but different hehe !
The nib assembly on this one is preassembled and you insert the ink and screw in the activator. The clip section presses into the tube and the whole lot then slides together tight enough to move the activater when you twist the barrel.
Its called an EB sierra don't recall where I got it from though.Last edited by gawdelpus; 6th July 2009 at 03:21 PM. Reason: error in pasting link.

Ok I went out and bought a digital calliper. I measured the kits and they measured 12.02mm at one end and 12.04mm at he other (clip) then measured my bushes first one measured 12.02mm the second one measured 12.22mm at first I could not see anything different with the second bush but I took my skew to it and there was a coating of CA on it, once removed it measured 12.02mm

Hey R P
The mech of the pen should come apart by slowly pulling it,,eg ,nibassembly, ink, activater will separate from the barrel leaving the barrel and the cap. You then tap the cap out and you are left with the barrel .
I have found the inside of a dyna bolt (10mm) will fit snugly in the barrel, the bell end of the bolt that is, then with the nut screwed in the end you have a good area to hit.
I have used this method a few times without sustaining any damage to the cap, and it was showed to me by Stu from Stusshed, I think there may be a entry on his site,

Ok for those who care or would like to know.
I was able to pull apart 1 of my EB pens and this is how I did it.
I unscrewed the twist mechanism and removed the ink. Then I inserted the large bar from my pen dismantle kit and tap the nib end out. You need to leave the nib screwed in or the two openings are the same size.
Then I used a 3/8 masonry bit (blunt end) to tap out the twist mechanism receiver.

Thank Lindz but I think you are talking about the other EB as this one the cap is pushed on to the twist mechanism so if you remove the TM your cap has nothing to hold onto have a look in the pics
