Euc Burl Tasmania and Conkerberry Queensland
OK So I thought I would add a top light to my light box ,this one ready made from Bunnings latest Catalogue so three fluro energy saver lamps used.
The timber I sent to Timberbits and he kindly reciprocated with these two pens amongst other treasures for me and with his kind permission theses are the pens he made.
Major yard work going on at my place albeit slowly to make it fun.
Regards Peter

Very nicely done, Peter. I love the Tasmanian burl. Photography is top notch as well.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Two good lookers Peter, what is the "blue" background, is it the type of light? Amos

Amos
The background was simply shoved across the back on a piece of cardboard to keep it upright, it was the back of one of dearly beloveds material pieces with a gold fleck in it. The whole exercise fits my long term criteria, set up time ten mins max and ready for the computer then composed, on line in five mins for the two pens. The change in colour can come when the lamps warm up and colour temperature varies. Colour of swatch whitish with dyes in it.
From the conversation with Timberbits to on line was brief and effective, fine tuning on the way but kiss principle foremost.
Regards Peter

Thanks for the kind words Peter.
Next thing is for me to make a letter opener and box for the pens (ecu burl, not Conkerberry. Don't think you would be able to find pieces big enough for a box in Conkerberry)
WIP as soon as the euc burl is dry, it will be on it way. Might be ready for you Christmas 2009. Something for you to look forward to.

KISS is good. If it is too difficult or time consuming, there's a tendency to put it off.
(like I do)
I was wondering about the reflection just under the center band. is that the right hand light? If so, you could probably eliminate the reflection by putting some sort of diffuser in front of it. (thin white material, shower curtain, handkerchief etc.) that will spread the light around and it won't show the shape of the lamp in the glossy surface. Nice surface it is, too.
I picked up some material at a sewing shop to do this. I originally wanted to make a 'Soft Box' out of it, but could ever find the wire frame. But I still use the material. I bought Rip-Stop nylon .. it was a couple of dollars, lasts forever and it's good at diffusing light without losing too much of it. I just hang it in front of the lights.
