Thread: Female Pen Kits ?

When my wife made pens to sell there were no "female" pen kits and there was no way to predict what a lady would prefer for themselves. Generally pens that were colourful (plastics) went over wood but not always. Often they bought more slender or smaller styles but there were lots that liked fatter pens like the Cigars. In other words you girls as in almost everything are unpredictable. What did sell better were well crafted pens with high gloss or well polished blanks and good quality kits. I would suggest some of the Beaufort Ink kits from England. The Tempest and Leveche are worth a look. Postage is a touch higher than in country but not unreasonable.

I really think that I do need to incorporate Crystals into my pens as I want my pens to have more of a bling to them.

But without going OTT

I have turned a couple Cigar pens which i don’t mind

There is one we call the Majestic Squire but Gary Pye has a slightly different name.

There is another similar one called the Art Deco but don't know who sell it your way
Broadwell Art Deco Gold TN and Gun Metal Ball Point Pen Kit at Penn State Industries

Both have a tasteful single crystal in the clips.

That Mistral kit Beaufort sells has the option of making your own finial and centre band. That means you could, if you can figure out how, to put crystals in them.

I am pretty certain Matt pointed me in the direction of the Beaufort link some while back for fountain pens. When I viewed the mistral video I realised it was the same one as I recognised the presenter.

A very nice looking product but a touch expensive. Probably $50 plus bushings plus postage.



The ballpoints, rollerballs and pencils are a little cheaper.

It has been quite some time since I've dabbled in pens, although I still have quite the stockpile of bands, mechanisms & clips, etc..

I got to the point where I was bored with 'stock' kits and was looking into making my own brass fittings. While I waited on purchasing a small metal lathe, I found a couple of US sites that sold individual clips, bands, nibs, etc. so that one could mix 'n match.

They came in a variety of sizes so I could be creative and use differently sized tubes & mechanisms in the same pen.

Sadly, I don't recall the names of any of the sites but it could be worth your while to go looking.

(And I only just got my li'l metal lathe this year... still haven't gotten back into making pens though. Yet.)

Sally I made another thread showing a pen that fit your criteria. My wife had them stashed for a few years and I didn't know about them even though I made the moulds for them so she could cast feather blanks in them.
