Wink Flying the Flag (well not quite)

I recently was offered a chance to try out one of Davids (Timberbits) new lazer cut blanks. This is the result, an Aussie flag just in time for Australia day hehe. Not on site as yet but anyone interested I am sure David can sort things for you, was a little challenging ,some tight fits ,but ends up all ok, you need to be patient as with most of these types of kits, I did it ok without instructions ,just watch it gluing up your tubes, the tube end needs to be very close to the top of the flag,or the bottom star will be chopped out . Could be used as the Australia day pen for the swap Cheers ~ John

    John,
Do you actually turn these kits or do you just put them together and "polish" them? Or what?

    just asking
    undies.
Those who can do, those who can't don't.....................I think?

All these laser inlay kits need to be put together like a jigsaw puzzle ,some are more complex than others and can be quite challenging . The items are usually glued in with thin CA then the tubes glued in as you would for a normal blank. Then the trimming and turning takes place ,usually a skew is used as it is less aggressive and less likely to catch and destroy your blank.Sanding and finishing is to user choice, I always do a CA finish to protect and enhance the finished pen . Hope that helps , Cheers ~ John

Looks great John. David needs to make the blue on the flag a bit darker though.
