    Default Fountain pens

Question - is there anyone turning fountain pens or ink pens as they were once commonly known?

Also is there any call for nibbed ink pens whether in set form of singular?

Once upon a time some years back I had no trouble moving these nominally in a box set with either letter opener/biro/pencil thru the outlets I had.

    Cheers

John I find that I can sell a good number of fountain pens but you need to know how to talk fountain pen if you know what I mean. Only a decerning few write with fountain pens so you do have to know what you are talking about.

The High end kits are the way now with your Baron, JR Gent, JR Statesman, JR Emperor being of similar size, then bigger ones like the Churchill, Gentleman, Statesman, Emperor, Imprial, Kyoto and the Majestic. There are others but these are your more known high end foutain pens.

I always do a matching pair but have them as a separate item, if a customer wants a rollerball / fountain pen set I already know the price so I tell them I will do a deal if they want a set. They walk away happy and you have sold your set at the price you wanted to without haggling.

Yes. They're my favourite pens by far, although now I mainly only turn them as part of gift-sets for special occasions... I'm not "into" sales, so I don't turn many of them anymore.

Darren has already covered the better fountain pen kits, I'll add that most have a complementary rollerball or, for some, clutch pencil kit. Sadly, I've yet to find any style that has all three types; to date I've been adapting non-matching kits to "fill the hole" as it were.

Skew the only high end kit that covers a fountain pen, rollerball, ball point and pencil is the JR Gentleman range.

It does? I've never seen the JRG clutch pencil, but I'll take your word for it.

I may buy a set or three for future projects, but I can't say it's my favourite kit... now if you'd said Churchill or Statesman instead, I'd have set a speed record.
