Some new fun
Well, after learning a bit about casting recently and doing my first cast with limited results, I have had another go after some helpful advice from you guys.
The first pen is a Sierra with what I think is Norfolk Island Pine seed pods cast in blue/red Perlex. Someone correct me if I am wrong with the tree, as I might do some more of these.

The next one is a Streamline in black chrome with Coolabah Burl cast in Emerald green.

The final one is not a pen, but it was a good test for me on what can be cast into resin. I cast some cut up Cypress seed pods into blue/red Perlex. It caused a bit of difficulty when turning as, even though the seed pods were dry, there appeared to be quite a bit of sap or something still in them which made them very soft and fragile, causing tearout. I had to stabilise them with CA and add a few coffee grinds near the end. Finished up okay.

Comments and advice appreciated.Dallas

They all look great
The first one looks like NIP frons, not seed pods, ie the spikey bits (that are their equivalent to leaves) that when dry are brown. I assume you cast a few together drilling down between the frons. I have only done a single fron cast, see here https://www.woodworkforums.com/f69/cast-nip-fron-109125/Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I hope this works as I haven't multiquoted a reply before. Lucky we have the search button for help.
Thanks for sorting me out on that Neil & Artme. There are 5 small frons in that cast. I did one with a single fron like yours Neil, but didn't get the resin quantity right so it was not long enough for any pen.
Always like to jump into anything new and learn as much as I can - I hate to fail due to not trying hard enough.
I will see what I can do John. Might have enough frons left for one more. I didn't pick up too many in case they were a total failure. Wish I had got more now.
