Default Getting the hang of this perhaps

I have started down an extremely slippery slope I can tell and no end in sight as yet.

First photo is a black titanium Baron fountain pen in Tiger Myrtle. Well pleased with that one, as was the receipient and has resulted in the bestowing of many many brownie points.....

Second photo, the top pen is a chrome titanium Baron rollerball in Native Pear. Also well chuffed with this one, the photo does nothing to show the grain but it is quite subtle and I will get more of this timber if I can.

Middle pen is a black titanium Baron rollerball in Ti Tree. Loved the timber but for some reason when assembled the pen has a slight bow in it which I can't understand how it got there.

Bottom pen is another black titanium Baron rollerball in cross cut Mango. Really really really like this timber but found it very tricky to trim the tubes and had a slight bit of chip out on the end of one tube now cunningly concealed under the clip. Thankfully Barons have a wide clip at the top.....

Last photo is just to prove (to myself) that I can use a chisel other than the skew and do curves etc. Awl in US Rock Maple, man was that beautiful to turn, love that timber. Will be using that timber again for other turnings for sure.

Good work there Ray, pens are very catchy, and working with some woods makes it very catchy. Amos

You sure worked with some of my well liked but difficult timbers.

1.Tiger Myrtle is pleasing as you say.
2.Native Pear for me is furry and difficult you handled that well.
    3.Ti Tree smooth as well.
    4. Cross cut Mango is a passion of mine as well,I agree it is a buzz to work with that gives a full finish and lots of fine detail.

I am at the cross roads whether to concentrate on pics or pens,at the moment pens win but like you will need to up the ante on clarity,in the mean time I strain my eyes and share your pleasure in penmaking.

PS that is some awl and yes you can use chisels and yes it is a statement, some useful point you made.
