Glad I dont do this for a living
If I did I'd be eating 2 minute noodles.
Ten hours in the shed for 3 pens!
The slimeline took F'n ages. my fault sanded thru the CA and then had to restart the process, run out of accelerator and so did the big green shed.
Not one of my best days but the results werent too bad.
The Slimeline turned out ok, was hoping for more of a contrast between the jarrah and the gemstone.
Oh well only have another 3 x 44 gallon drums full of rough gemstones to play with.

Left Pen: Gold Bolt Action & Black & Red Acrylic
Middle Pen: Slimline in Jarrah & Yellow Lace Agate Gemstone
Right Pen: Chrome Bolt Action in Camo Acrylic
Cheers

10 hours, did you use just sand paper(just kidding) Besides, I like those 2min noodle things....
Seriously though, three excellent examples of some fine turning! Everything from my chair seems to be fitted and finished just great. After they sell you might be able to afford dinner six at the local steakhouse!
Scott (roman noodles....why roman, they don't come from there) B

Nice work Shawn. I like the idea of gemstones running through the pen. I imagine turning would take a lot of time.
I don't know of too many on here who are driving a Rolls Royce bought from the proceeds of pen making - still its the finished work of art that counts.

The bright side is it keeps you off the streets and out of trouble and you have 3 excellent pens for your efforts. They look the goods to me

10 hours is not too bad.
Are you going to use a lighter or darker wood for the next gemstone insert?

ok this about the 300th time I've tried to reply to this.
Now IE9 is consigned to the scrapheap and Firefox 18 now downloaded and being used after reading the issues others have been having.
Thanks Guys.
Christos: I wanted a better contrast between the jarrah and the agate. Next time I will try a darker timber (Western Rosewood?) and maybe a quartz or lighter coloured gemstone.
I am lucky to have about 1/2 tonne of rough gemstone to go thru and play with, and the possibility of getting more.
Cheers
