Nope first is for... ME!!! Of all the ruddy pens I made back when I first started with the lathe I didnt end up with one... so the first few are MINE I TELLS YER MINE ALL MINE!!!... planning on doing one of the poly ones looks like marble?... and then a zebrano and maybe a crotch one and then theres the ebony and musk... theyre mine from there on I plan on giving a few away the rest WILL be sold of to help pay for my addiction to tools and wood

Then its onto a couple of bowls... gotta get back into bowls such a relaxing thing turning bowls... then I gotta put the new clock into the completed large temperature reading project damned if I know whatcha call it with the clock thermometer and barometer?? anyway Its done other than replacing the small clock I first inserted with a larger one wich should look bedderah... then its onto a couple of other project boxes Ive just got to finish... and inbetween times I still have to weld the damned sub base for the camper up!!... ooh and tomorrow mornings out as Ive finally found someone to install the UHF into the Prado along with a gps cause Im constantly getting bushed and the kids are getting worried I might not find my way back one day

Keeping busy IS the best medicine for what ails one

    Cheers

    Default Gloat pics!!

Yep tore out last night and bought me a wee camera!! So without further ado heres the pics of the new wee lathe!!

ooh and the mess that is the "Dingos cave"

    Right... left to right...

    1) new lathe setup on far left of shed in a dark corner

    2) new lathe with the first pen blank being done

    3) What greets me when I walk in the cave the large wooden thing resting on the top of the campers new subframe is my latest peice of woodart... a clock thermometer barometer thing Jarrah frame with Ebony veneer... this is about 4ft long by 2ft wide and heavy as buggary!... just recutting the hole for the new clock fitup the first one was a tad small and between the black of the ebony and the other features the clock sorta got drowned out... so a new larger clock is going in... ooh and can you see the thin air presses? mmm still gotta have a whirl with them... and find a bloody bigger bag!! I mean yeah I do do some smaller veneering but Im starting to like BIG stuff and these bags are just a tad too small... but hey! its all good and new so something to get the old juices flowing again

    4) To the left as you enter thats the big lathe under the Aussie flag cover

    5) If you look REAL carefully you can see the new lathe behind the ply in the right... sorta

    Cheers!!
    Shane

Gidday Pat... mate I'll be putting the clock in tomorrow sometime and will take a shot or two no worries

It ended up not to bad really... a tad disappointed in my choice of clock thermo and baro but give myself a break cause it REALLY wasnt ever going to be as big as it ended up being... I just couldnt come to cut the ebony veneer anymore than I had already done

    So some pics tomorrow arvo/evening

oh and that pen should be done about then too!! Just gotta take the nippers to soccer in the morning and early arvo then the days mine!!

    Cheers!

Nice little lathe Shane pen maker extraordinier can see the penmakers section getting some long WIP's n such now and plenty photos with a new camera which you neglected details of I spotted an 8 megapixle camera at Alid's Thursday no idea how much.

If thats the new chassis for the camper Its looking good can't see a weld anywhere already painted
Noticed the new box of tools under the lathe they specially for pen turning only or other little things too.

At least the younguns can have a go while your busy doing other stuff Shane making presents etc.
