Default Glow in the Dark Coffee bean & Banksias

I cast these over easter, almost a total stuf-up - see here for casts, problems and glue-ups. Managed to save a few coffee bean casts by slicing and gluing, the banksia just turn out like I have cast with clear resin .

2 EBs coffee beans with brass tubes glued in with yellow/green tinted epoxy, 2 Sierras with white tubes, and 2 banksias with black tubes. All finished with CA.

    Cheers
    Neil

Looks like the Banksias came out nicely. Pity about the stuff up with the coffee beans though. They're saved but probably not much good for anything other than home use or giving away to friends. Probably a bit late now but could you have used a wood section on the ends (like Gidgee?) and have the bean blank centred without the centre band?
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

I could have, but I wanted to use the bands, as they have the most glow powder in them. There wasn't much glow powder left around the actual beans themselves, especially when after turning they are only 0.5mm thick

After reading your other thread on the process (and cost) of the glow in the dark powder, I'm not suprised you wanted to get some use out of those sections.

You live and you learn. I do not like the look of the bands but when they are in glow mode it really looks effective. The Banksias look great in light or dark well done

An expensive exercise Neil but you have managed to save some of them, well done. That glow really works and for me better suited to the Banksia nuts
