Hi There Everyone
I flew to Melbourne in the morning to buy this 1979 first registered in July 1980 made in Germany Mercedes 280 SEL. The true colour is cream inside as new outside absolutely fabulous, the guy I bought it from picked me up at Melbourne airport took me to his home then setting my new as yet never used Navman (see the suction post inside on the windscreen. Brief run through pay money and set off the other side of Melbourne to visit with my mate Amos visit for an hour or so ( bear in mind Amos has a business to run from Ferntree Gully and this was prime business time for him).
Courtesy demanded a brief visit albeit we could have talked all day and off I went driving back to Canberra where I arrived half an hour after midnight, tired but very happy. I think I passed legally every semi trailer single but mostly double B,s in Australia easily on the hills sometimes more than once, do not know what happened to governed at 100 km certainly they passed me at 130 km at times. The two quick pics show in late afternoon blazing sun my new to me treasure C/W insects on the screen and temp travel document inside the window. Wow made in Germany sure seems good to me my new toy call it my late life crisis in my 50.s I bought a Datsun 260Z that looked like a giant phallous for my midlife crisis.
Amos you are a national treasure thank you for the reception of me and twas great to meet face to face with you and your son.
Total regards Peter.

Nice car! And two of the nicest people on this forum that I have had the pleasure of dealing with.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
