Nice Job There DJ... lucky you did some pens or you would have to turn that lathe that is sitting idle over to me with all the spare pen kits lying around too

DJ , lovely job. Good choice with the timbers and the direction of the grain. i had never heard of gidgee before i came on here and am finding it such a beautiful wood for pens, the colours and features, really, really a bonzer wood. Dunno what it's like to turn of course. Sigh, maybe one day. Every now and again i drag my little box of tools out and pat them. Maybe i will give them a clean this week. They haven't been used for a long time and i was still a beginner back then, now i am a beginner who has forgotten how to do every thing, but i still remember how happy my wife looked when i presented her a stool with turned legs. And then a candleholder that you could actually put candles in and they wopuldn't fall out. Nostalgia time )

DJ I like all your timber choices and the kits you matched them too. The Churchill pen, how does it compare weight and size to a Baron or a JR Gents fountain pen? Are the finals plastic or powdercoated metal. Have been looking at it for a while, I have been looking for a mid priced fountain pen between the Baron and JR Gent. That would be 6 fountain pens for my range I sell then. What are it's pros and cons?
    Thanks in advance

    G'day Darren

    Thanks for the compliments.

As for comparing the Churchill to a Baron or JR, I cannot help you there as I have not turn either of these yet. I will be able to tell you later in the week on the Baron as I have 2 drilled and glued up ready to go, just have to find some time.

The finials look to be powder coated and are metal.

It is a well made pen and I am very happy with it.
    Cheers

Nice, DJ. I've been out of the shop for quite a while myself due to a back injury. My Christmas pen orders are coming in faster than I can make them, so I've got to buckle down and get busy. Muscle relaxers and power tools aren't the best of friends.

    Refreshing differences in styles.
Beaut style Tiger brought it up with the gloss to me Tiger can go flat if not,Rollerball might look different with long grain not so short,Osage great shapes and timber, last pen would suit style one.
Thanks for the pics. Peter. PS I like your pens
