Now Jr Emperor in charodite...was...HELP>>>need Advice
Hi I made this pen from Charoite which is true stone on a JR emperor kit but I put that piece on just below the lid upside down
, is there a way to seperate the piece with ruining the kit or am I better just let it wear the mistake. I need your help what are your opinion? Is there a way to do it? I really don't want to harm the kit?
Thanks for your time.

Hmmm...
You mean the lower band on the cap? On the rare occasion I've done similar (OK, maybe not so rare) there've been two ways I've "fixed" things.
1. For plain(ish) bands I've simply wrapped the pen in a bit of duct tape for protection, fitted a small hose clamp around the band and then used a nail punch on the edge of the clamp, working around to apply pressure evenly, until I've tapped the band free.
As your band is a lot more ornate, this probably wouldn't work as well - there's a definite risk of stuffing something up.That's where I do this:
2. Remove the finial/clip as per usual, then mount the cap on the mandrel and turn the blank off the tube. Then you can use another, slightly larger tube over the outside of the pen tube to knock the band off.
I prefer to turn a blank on another tube first, ready for the lower band to be fitted. Then I mount both tubes on the mandrel, with the new blank closest to the headstock, then the stuffed one (with the blank already turned off) and then the oversized tube... so I can use the tailstock to press the band off one tube and onto the new one.Easy peasy. (If you can understand what I mean?)
I reckon it's better to salvage the kit for reuse with another blank than to ruin the kit and have nothing...

Hubby has arrived home here the finished pen is. He managed it to get it apart without to much casualty.
the one with the nib is the truest to colour but the gold is out. Not sure how to get the balance so showing you the pen colour and the gold in the darker photo. I give up with photos
What do you think of my new pen?

yep he sure is. I am fortunate. He has put up with me for 16 1/2 years and anywhere between 5-10 kids in a day. So that pretty much says enough does it not.

Nice pen. You say that is 'true stone'. How can you turn stone? Or is that a term for something different? Whatever it is, it's beautiful. What kind of finish did you put on it?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Toni, that pen exudes royalty, Blue and Gold always seem to set each other off, pity we couldn't get a picture with true colour, but in presence I am sure it is a beauty. Good Hubby, I think I need him around here for when I make mistakes, Amos

Toni I like the Truestone it is a very effective material for a pen and gives some weight to it. The Charodite is a rich colour and complements the gold in this particular kit, but for my liking, the way the JR Emperor and Emperor are designed a straight bush to bush design would give the pen a simplistic elegance than the curved barrels. That is just me though.

Yeah, it's nice.
I still can't help but wonder how the kit'd look with a good wood, though.

Not snazzy today. I must of got to much heat into the pen. Today it has covered in surface cracks.

Oohhhh! Don't you just hate that? I've had that happen to me with snakewood and it is always a balloon burster.
Get some more of that stuff and try, try again. When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
