Imperial Amboyna
Just finished the first of a set I plan to make from penpal's golden amboyna.
Bit of a saga to this one - I got the amboyna in the mail from peter, and immediately raced out to the shed to start the pen. I carefully cut the blank, reached for the brochure and the drill bits - whoops! 35/64" - yet another odd sized bit that I didnt have!
Got in contact with an engineering tool supplier and ordered the bit, so I finally got my hands on it a couple of days later. Bolted home, raced out to the shed.....
Dramatic pause...
The bit was too big for the chuck.
After several colourful sentences directed at my GMC press, I decided the time had come to pay carbatec a visit (they had opening specials, after all).
Yet another day later, I finally had my hands on a new full sized pedestal drill. (what a difference!)
Anyway, after thrashing the budget, its finally finished - and worth every cent!
So here it is - the Golden Amboyna Imperial:
Thanks again to peter for generously letting us share his loot - this is some pretty sweet pieces of timber!Last edited by Dangermouse; 23rd June 2008 at 11:01 PM. Reason: attachments lost in the ether...
