after poking around on russ fairfield's site yesterday , (never new about it until he passed away , wish i had though )i read all his pen stuff ( very sad when a man like him passes ) decided to have a crack at the long one , and this is the result , not the best but i will make some more and get better at it ( i kinda rushed it a bit , big no no )
its river red gum , the little whatitsname thing to stand the pen in ,i never had so i made one from a bit of leftover home made black resin pen blank .the black band is a bit of the black plastic card that i bought for making celtic knots .
finish is not good but it was only a trial run .
i also have some pepper mill kits some where that i bought about 6 months ago and a cutter with extension must dig those out and work out how to make them ( never done one ).
just been down and checked the river she is running moderate flood height at the moment ( still rising )they want water for the murray ,its on its way .

the water is not a problem for me at my business or at home but it is for the guy i work for irrigation farm down on the river .
we have pulled the pumps out and shifted some gear if the expected peak is what we rekon things should be ok.
biggest problem for me has been roads cut making travel a bit tough last 2 trips to toowoomba were a bit of a test and i have to go for my shop stock .
we have been flooded in a few times in the last 2 weeks but not under water just cut off.
we are a few hundred thousand dollars behind in lost production because of the constant rain though .
