    Hi Toni
nice pens, what angle did you use? I was thinking of going 45 degree or more and figured to get ovals ... but I'm still waiting for parts to fix the bandsaw beast

    Colour contrast is good.

Just as a rule of thumb:

30° gives an oval about 1 1/6 times as long as it is wide
45° gives an oval just under 1 1/2 times...
60° gives an oval about 2 times...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Good work Toni.
As the others have indicated the more angle the more oval.

    Hi Toni,

Try clamping a block of wood on, that has been cut to the angle you want so that the drill bit has a flat surface to start with
    Cheers

BTW, Toni, I find it's easier to cut two of those wedges at the angle you want and clamp one on each side. (I hot-melt glue 'em on and remove 'em in a microwave later, but it's still the same principle.)

That way you don't normally need to change the drill-press table from its' usual position (mines' a right beggar to put back accurately. ) and the bottom wedge protects the blank from tearout when the drill passes all the way through.
