JR Gent
A JR Gent dressed out in a piece of Deer Antler I got from Brett a while back. I still remember how to make a pen once and a while. Comments welcome.

Antler Supply
Hey guys thanks for the comments.
Fred the plating is Rhodium / Platinum, depending who sells it.
Rum Pig, the only way to descibe turning antler is like when you slip with the sander and you burn your finger nails or you accidently set fire to the hairs on your arm. As for antler supply, I got mine from Brett at Addictive Pen Kits www.addictivepenkits.com.au you can go to his site and either email him or get his number and give him a call.
Amos, I am getting there my friend, have long ways to go to catch you up, you are producing magnificent pens. It is an honour to see your growth as a pen crafter.
Thanks again for the comments Artme and munruben

That's a pretty sharp pen, Darren. I know a lot of hunters who would like one of those. I've been gathering dropped horns that I find in my fields over the years, maybe I need to try this. Nice choice of kit as well.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Looks good mate. Not sure if I'll ever get around to antler. Does it stink while you're turning it, or make a lot of dust?

Russell like Mike said, follow the safe practice for turning and finishing natural material like antler and grass tree especially and even resin for that matter. Yes it does stink, but it is worth while for the results that antler give you.

Interested in your treatment of the Animal Horn when looking for a while I see you chose have the feature under the clip and yes it would detract elsewhere and creates a lead in to the pen for me. The character or pattern is muted rather like all classy items, simply treated this way b to b suits it fine.I am with Amos and Sam we feel that the healing comes from doing familiar things well. Achievment conquers everything, gives something to hang on to in the rat race of life.
Have fun again Best Regards mate. Peter
