Ahh nup I didn't. I don't have any paints. I guess I should as I can see the tube shoeing through on the blue pen. Whats a suitable set of paints for pen turning?

Cool ;-) I reverse paint mine so instead of painting the tubes I paint the blank after drilling it out ;-) I only paint acrylics I rarely paint my PR blanks ;-)

No worries mate anytime ;-) if it's a light blank I would go white and dark black but if u want u can always paint it a simular colour to the blank also

Looking forward to it mate if we do it on a weekend I can do some pouring right before ur eyes ;-)

Well done sir, yes you can see the tubes on the acrylics but we have all done it, and painting either the tubes or reverse painting the blanks will fix future endeavours. Just be aware that the colour used for painting can affect the finished colour of the acrylic.

Good stuff ill pick up some cheap paint suitable for acrylic tomorrow while I'm out to test with. I'll get black and white and some small brushes.

Really getting into this pen making. The amount of customisation available is crazy. Really dig those snake skin casts can't wait to get my casting setup

I still sometimes forget to paint my tubes, mainly the acrylic acetates which seem to be a bit more transparent when they get a bit thin , I have found though that your glueup is only as good as the paint you use as that is what the glue is bonding to,it sometimes fails . I use a spray can etch primer to paint my tubes ,(they seem to vary from white to grey) as I get a better adhesion, I sometimes use gun blue to darken the tubes as well ,this is just a chemical reaction so doesn't interfere with the glue, nor increase the size of the tube so it will always fit its drilled hole ,if its tight you will just push the paint off as you insert it I Almost never paint a tube for a polimer blank as these don't seem to be as translucent as the acetate styles. Cheers ~ John
