Default JR Gent & Letter opener - Tas Blackwood

JR Gent & Letter opener in fiddle-back Blackwood.

The fiddle-back Blackwood has always been difficult for me photograph. Never seem to be able to show the grain to its full potential. I just did a photography course at Sturt in the 1st week of Jan. I hope its improved my skills. I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I have a matching box for them as well but stuffed the lid when I was sanding it, buy loosing grip on the lid, the linisher threw it across the room and put a dent in the corner.

Its under repair in workshop. I will post photos of it when I finally finish it.

As usual, 20 coats of thin CA, sanded to 12,000, Brasso then Auto wax.

Thanks for looking and thanks for any comments or suggestions.

    great looking set

The best way to show the fiddleback is in the sunlight I have found, but even then it usually doesn't do it justice

    Nice set by the way.

These photos were taken on an overcast day, no sun what so ever. In fact it was showery and I set up in the carport to take the photo.

    Very nice Well done David
I can see from photo #2 the quality of the fiddle back but I do agree that it is bloody hard to take photos that show the true beauty of most timbers.

    Love the box and pen/Opener.

Fiddleback blackwood is magnificent in a pen, pics can never do the chatoyance justice though.

    Hey Daid,

Very nice, the letter opener seems to have a different shape, do you have those on the shop website??

Doing an order next week might have to have a few.

    Pics turned out good also.
