Red face Jr. Gent I - XCut Eastern Red Cedar

It's a boring day here, threat of storms and/or rain on and off just makes you want to crawl into a warm spot and take a nap. But nay I say!! I is a turner of pens(no I haven't been drinking....yet)!!

This piece was the next on the stack, and would have been someone's...but I got it. Crosscut Eastern Red Cedar with extra sapwood. There is some 'funny looking hues' in the sapwood. At first I thought I had contaminated the blank with metal from sanding....but I don't use bushing at all.....weird?

    Anyway.....

    And then up close!

This is about as close as I can get to a blank without some serious lighting and the use of extension tubes. I'll let the wood speak for itself......
Oh yeah, this is 3 coats medium and 5 coats thick CA(BLO method)....if you were curious.

    Thanks for looking!

The only down side to turning ERC is the dust during sanding, it gets everywhere. I've noticed between sanding and the CA finish, I need to wait awhile to let the dust settle down. If not, it will get in the finish.

    Thanks for looking guys!!
