    Default JR Victor - Huon

This is a JR Victor Rollerball (aka JR Retro) Post-able version in Birds Eye Huon.

Sanded to 400 grit. CA Finish - 20 thin coats. Sanded to 2,000 grit. Brasso, cornflour then automotive wax.

I also found out today why you should not mix big quantities of cornflour at a time. After about a week, the slurry starts to smell like rotten eggs.

I love the smell of Huon! Its also amazing how these green fruit flies seems to appear out of fresh air when your turning Huon. I wonder where they live when they are not on my pieces of freshly cut Huon.

Thanks in advance for any comment or suggestions for improvements.

    Regards

    Timberbits.

Oh yeah, I like that...! and the finish...??? I hope that I can manage to get that finish on my pens, using the CA! or is anything else?

Is quite amazing the similarities of some of the Huon Pine, with some of the Golden Cypress I got here. The bird's eye pieces I get from the trunk pieces and the "curly" fine texture is what I get mostly on the root part, interesting...!

I have to get some of those kit styles from you...!

    Cheers

Just looked on your web page and could not find them
Are they part of your range or did you get them somewhere else?

I'm not normally a guy who likes lighter colored pens but this looks amazing. Finish is spectacular and the figure is beautiful. Wish I had access to blanks like that!!!

    Default Hi David Timberbits

Wow the Gold sets the timber off and the timber complements the kit so well it is warm and very appealing. I believe the moderate birds eye suits it as well to achieve there is no competition between the kit and timber, truly a neat very sellable product your Mum would be proud to see and own ( as if she doesnt have half a dozen by now)

    Keep them rolling. Regards Peter.
