Just say no
Take up pen turning they say, it's fun, it won't hurt you, and so you make a pen.......and then this happens.
Top to bottom- 1) Snakewood (Acacia xiphophylla), 2) Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata), 3) Red Morrell burl (Eucalyptus Longicornis), 4) Eucalyptus Horistes burl, 5) Western Sheoak (Allocasuarina Fraseriana), 6) York Gum burl (Eucalyptus Loxophleba).DSCN0019.jpg

Wow Biggus, sone nice pens there. Some mouth watering timbers you have as well.
Dont be afraid to post each pen you make in its own thread, it stretches out the enjoyment for us All.
It would be good if the penturning forum got a new lease of life, keep on posting, might give us old lot a reason to start posting again.Brad.

I think we've all been down that path when we started. Just can't get enough pens as you get instant fulfilment because it doesn't take long before you get a finished product in your hand.
A nice batch of pens there with some really nice wood and well finished.
I realised that I clicked on the wrong post when I clicked the "thanks for pictures" icon as Matt had included the photo again in his post. Ignore that Matt.Dallas

Thanks for the link Biggus. We used to have a place like that in Wauchope when David Hayes was running Wauchope Wood and Turning Supplies but he folded his tent 10-odd years ago and went fishing so I will have to look further afield for goodies. The obvious solution is to look for short logs and cut them on the baby Lucas mill I have had in storage for 3 years but some days it sounds like a good idea and on most others it just looks like a whole lot of hard work.

Or are you just a penoholic? Is there a difference? Can you start out as a penoholic and refine your tastes and skills, keeping only the finest examples of the art that use both the best mechanisms and finest timbers and become a true penophile?
I obviously need more tea, or to sniff more glue.
