Too many Keepers
When I am making batches of pens or boxes, something deep inside of me (I was probably a magpie in a previous life) tells me not to sell all the things I make. I am always finding excuses not to sell all my work.
Over the years of making these boxes, I have keep a few.
When setting up the display cabinet, I initially though that I had kept about 5 boxes in the few timbers that I truly love like Tiger Myrtle, Huon Pine, Red Cedar, Olive and Native Olive.
After I had finished setting it up, my Wife said why don't you show the rest of your boxes? I looked at her and said "that was it". She shook her head and said "Why don't you bring out your keepers?"
I Forgot about my keepers in the workshop. I have over 30 keepers in the workshop.
Took them out and put one of each timber in the display cabinet.
Here they are.
I think it's a bit too crowded so I might have to get another display cabinet.
What do you think?

I think your wife was right ! hehe, At least if you don't sell them at least you can enjoy seeing them on a daily basis
For me I try not to fall in love with my work ,so as soon as it's finished it's for sale ,unless it's a gift or my wife claims it hehe. Keep up the great work David and if your "treasures" need new homes ,be happy for them lol. Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Hello David,
That is a great set of boxes, I liked the boxes with the natural timber in the lid. Your displays are coming along niceley. If I ever get over to your neck of the woods I will have pop in.
Cheers Gerry

Morning David,
Finders, Keepers was the old rule at school however it seems your wife is a fair person and allowed you to both remember and keep your boxes.
IMHO the only way having displayed those Xtra special boxes is to have them engraved or put a double the others premium price on them, sometimes a NFS sign only intensifies the desire to own.
Really pleased to see the premises coming to life in such an impressive way, wish you continuing good fortune my friend.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum

Thanks for showing us these David, they're exceptional. I'd love to see them close up one day, maybe when I'm passing through to go up north.
I'd definitely go another display case or two, looks very crowded. Saying that, I'm very much a minimalist.
Well done!-Scott

Yep, looking good David
I tend to agree the shelves are too crowded. Certainly another display cabinet would be better, but you could also consider adding another shelf within the existing cabinet, with the smaller boxes and glass shelving you could put the shelves closer together.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I will have to agree with the others that things are looking great but there does seem way to many boxes on the one shelf and you certainly could do well to thin it out a bit. All up though things are looking good.

Take out half and when the ones in the case start flying out the door you will have some to fill the shelves again. You do beautiful work.

Gee David, what a terrific display !. I love your small custom pen box's (the one's that were featured in the magazine), particularly the amazing burl lidded ones. Great idea !. I've made a bunch of these box's from your design, and everyone wants one.
I never forget anything I remember !!

David I hope that is in your shop or warehouse or wherever, coz anyone who can keep a display like that in a workshop MUST be in league with the devil.
Those who can do, those who can't don't.....................I think?
