Key-Ring Perfume Spray
I picked up some "Paua" crushed Abalone shell ( NZ) at the markets, my better half painstakingly sat down and glued the tiny bits on a Perfume tube, I then cast it in "diggers" clear ,this is the finished result ,my wife will show it but not let it go hehe!
Taken with flash but only a rough idea of the color and shine Cheers ~ JohnG'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Looks very unusual, must have taken a bit of time.
Well done the both of you.
Saw an article in the current Creative Woodworking that showed that technique and the also painted the tube black.

I seem to remember someone saying he didn't like resins and preferred wood. When was the last time you made a wood pen?

Hehe! first choice is still wood, but the great unwashed masses seem to be addicted to plastic and Glitz Last wooden pen was Saturday , But I made a horrible lime green workshop pencil and modified slim today for a customer who put up good hard cash in advance lol. What's a poor pensioner to do

Very nice
I can't blame your wife for not letting it go
As for the painting of the brass tube I can see why but I think it still works with the brass showing. I thing a lot of use pen turners get funny about the brass showing because we know what it is that you can see, but most people would be none the wiser. I made a resin pen where you could see the tube and see bubbles in the glue I was not happy but that is one of the things that drew most people to the pen and I sold that pen to very happy customer in a few days of making it. I have now changed how I glue my tubes inCheers Rum Pig
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
