To Be or Knot To Be
Well here is my attempt at the famous KNOT pen. It is a twofold thing and you will see why. The yellowheart pen is a Sierra Vista and has yellowheart as the main body and then redheart, yellowheart, and holly and black veneer as the knot.
The redheart pen is a Sierra and has reheart as the main body and redheart, yellowheart and holly and black veneer as the knot.
Thanks for looking and alot of credit goes to edblysard and Larry in Harrow for their tutorials on both the jigs and the design of this project. Hats off to you guys.

Top job mate. I'm afraid to try as I know I'd never get the parts matching that close. I like the yellow one best I think. Why does it look so much bigger than the red one - did you use a fisheye lens?

Aha
do you simply replace the, say, top half of the blank after each cut and do both pens together? not sure that made sense!
PS did you do a wip?Last edited by Sawdust Maker; 19th February 2009 at 09:40 AM. Reason: add PS

Very impressive...
I like the alternating center parts...adds a lot to the look, plus it makes people wonder "how did he do that?"....
Excellent all the way around.

Should I tell them??/ The difference in size is because the yellowheart one is placed on a Sierra Vista kit which is a little larger than the standard Sierra kit. Sorry but it was the only kits I had left. When you turn the blank down smaller the knot gets smaller. I have a bunch of kits ordered but they are being held up due to a back order and it is driving me nuts. I can not make any more pens now. I am going to place another order with another place tomorrow. Have other things I want to try.
Thanks all for the kind words and thanks for looking.

Very well done
I agree with Russell the yellow one looks better I think the red is to vibrant to be the main colour.Cheers Rum Pig

Very nice "harlequin" effect."Counterchange" also comes to mind. Obviously (or not) makes sense to make two blanks at the same time.
Well done.

Looks perfect! I think the red one looks better - is like the houses in Sweden .
